Umeå snow sculpture championship 2017

As you might remember, I visited an annually held snow sculpture championship in Umeå last year. And I did it again yesterday! This year’s theme was “Age, wisdom and respect”. The contestants were given a cube of snow and from Friday to Saturday to work with it and at the end people got to vote their favorite. So here are pictures of some pretty amazing artwork displayed at the city center of Umeå. Here’s my post from last year if you want to check it out. This year the weather was much better so it was nicer to walk around.

I still have no idea what this person lying around  represents.

I like puzzles, so I thought this one was nice.

These owls were so cute! 🕊

Some of the sculptures I didn’t really understand, but it was definitely interesting to see what people could come up with and I can imagine that doing detailed sculptures out of snow is not an easy task.

This sculpture with Yoda won this year.

Remember, my blogger colleagues Ivanna and Marina are doing a campus tour in the north of Sweden next week. They’ll be visiting Umeå on Wednesday, so make sure to follow their adventures on Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram! ❄️💞

Hello! Sadly I couldn’t find information on whether they’ll still be there and can’t remember how it went last year. 🙁 Also, it’s been +7 degrees today so some might have started to melt already. But I wish you have a great time in Umeå! 🙂
