Cost of Living in Sweden 2017

Being a student means and requires a lot of things, the single most important issue is that students often live in a tight budget. Therefore, I and my other blogger fellows receive hundreds of mails asking us how much money you need to survive in Sweden.

Last year, I have posted a blog discussing cost of living in Sweden and I though it may be beneficial for us to update the list and give a fresh look.

The first thing you need to know is that you have to have sufficient amount of money in your bank account while applying for a student visa, if you are not entitled to a scholarship. For applications submitted to the Migration Agency on 1 January 2017 or later the support requirement is a minimum of SEK 8,064 per month. If you intend to study for one year or more you must show that you can support yourself for 10 months per year. You may check migrationsverket.se for the details.

For the list,I have followed the same principle I did last year and I just kept all of my receipts for one week and. From Monday to Sunday… Some items are added and some prices are just updated! Here is the list you may find useful. I have also paid my rent at the beginning of the month, therefore it is also in the list. IMPORTANT: Prices reflect the costs from Uppsala and Stockholm

If you need to know more about cost of living in Sweden, do not hesitate to comment!
